Melissa Serrano: The future occupational therapist.

During this past week, I had the amazing opportunity to interview Melissa Serrano, a teenager living with Cerebral Palsy (CP) on the right side of her body. Although she just graduated from high school, her words and messages were beyond mature and remarkable. She told me, “It’s okay not to understand. But you always have to be willing to educate yourself and listen.” I hope this project can encourage everyone to learn about the original stories of these talented youths.

A message from Melissa:

Hi I’m Melissa Serrano. I am 17 years old and will be turning 18 soon. I have cerebral palsy and dream of becoming an occupational therapist. My disability has inspired me to help others like me. I want to turn my struggles into change and do something beautiful. It isn’t always easy living in a world that isn’t made for you. However, I will never stop advocating and sharing my story. I want people to know that we all have a purpose and can do big things. Don’t let others stop you from becoming the best version of yourself. Keep your head high and keep pushing and breaking barriers. I believe in everyone of you.
