Elexus is currently working at Applebees in New York and would be willing to take any opportunity to gain knowledge in her passion for photography and filmmaking. The interview discussed her life coming from a difficult family situation, which led her to grow into a strong and creative person which resulted in her accomplishments despite her disability.

1. Tell me about yourself (name, age, disability, nationality etc)

My name is Elexus Moe and I was born in the United States of America. I do have anxiety, ADHD, and social anxiety. I like to make Tik Toks videos. I work at Applebees as a dishwasher, in my spare time, I make Tik Toks, learn Japanese, and talk to my friends (like Mei and a friend in Japan).

2. What are your hobby(s)?

My hobbies are watching anime, making stories on Tik Tok and on Wattpad, and studying Japanese.

3. What are some things that you wished people knew about you and people with disabilities?

I wish people would sit down and listen to what I had to go through as a child as I went through tough times, as well do not view me as a disgusted or odd human being as someone with a disability.

5. What are your current goals (short-term and long-term)?

My short and long-term goals are to become a filmmaker and make short videos of short clips and post it on youtube and go from there, if I get my dream to go to Japan I would take my friend (Mei) over.

6. How do you motivate yourself? What's your inspiration?

I motivate myself by telling myself to always know that things are going to happen as it occurs and if I keep this mindset I will not give up and keep on moving. My inspiration is a YouTuber named ‘Moe Sargi’ who makes haunted abandon videos.

7. In what ways has music, tattoos, social media supported you during tough times?

On my Tik Tok account, whenever I felt down, my followers were there for me and supported me, and were willing to wait for me to take some time alone before coming back to making more videos. Music can touch my heart and especially how the song related to me such as BTS (Bangtan Boys) who saved made my life when I was in the age of 16 from committing suicide and that goes with the tattoos I have, as well.

8. I know you won a certificate award in high school; do you mind sharing your experience?

I got all my merit role’s from Stanley G. Falk (Robert Moses). As well as participated and helped in the March Fashion Show in 2018 with the filming from Harkness Career & Tech. Later, I was given the student of the month by my homeroom teacher. I was still making through many merit and honor rolls despite doing both.

9. Related to the organization, how would you define originality?

To me, originality is being your own type of person and always being who you are, and do not allow people to detect how people can control your life and you are your own person and should not have anyone dictate about you.

10. What did you want people to take away from this interview?

I would keep my story the way it is and share it so people know that they're not alone. (I would keep my story to myself and that’s who I am)
